From Isolation to Inclusion: MyHelp-YourHelp Foundation Brings Easter Hope to Weija Leprosarium

Weija Leprosarium, Accra | April 19, 2025

Under the theme “Easter Compassion: From Isolation to Inclusion,” we at MyHelp-YourHelp Foundation, in partnership with PayAngel, brought Easter alive in one of the most moving ways possible: by standing with the cured leper community and street kids at the Weija Leprosarium on Easter Saturday.

What We Did

True to our mission of restoring dignity and compassion, we:

  • Donated assorted food items, clothing, books, and essential medicines worth over GHS 60,000
  • Provided an additional GHS 10,000 in cash support to the Weija Leprosarium
  • Offered fellowship and meals with cured lepers and underserved children
  • Engaged the community in games, music, and spiritual encouragement

A Day of Dignity & Delight

The event was graced by Rev. Father Andrew Nii Lante Campbell, a revered advocate for the cured leper community. He received the donations with heartfelt appreciation and described the Foundation’s gesture as “a precious gift that restores dignity and reminds the world of our shared humanity.”

The compound, often marked by quiet isolation, was transformed into a space of laughter, dance, and connection. Members of the Foundation spent time with residents not as benefactors, but as friends, bridging years of social stigma with simple acts of love.

What Happened with the Kids?

Children rescued from nearby streets and now housed within the Leprosarium were not left out. Their Easter was made brighter with:
• Bible quizzes
• Musical chairs & dance competitions
• Storytelling sessions
• Shared meals and joyful interaction

“This is the happiest day of my life!” — shouted one young boy during the dance competition.

Why We Do What We Do

Leprosy—medically known as Hansen’s Disease—is curable, yet its social stigma persists. As a Christian nonprofit, MyHelp-YourHelp Foundation believes in standing with the marginalized, breaking societal barriers, and bringing practical hope to the forgotten.

This initiative also supports the 2025 World Leprosy Day theme: “Unite. Act. Eliminate.” World Health Organization. Reference: (2025, January 26). World Leprosy Day 2025: Unite. Act. Eliminate. Retrieved from https://www.who.int/southeastasia/news/detail/26-01-2025-world-leprosy-day. We believe that no one should be remembered for a disease, but for their worth, potential, and humanity.

A Word from Our Partners

Dr. Delali Kotoka, Manager at PayAngel, encouraged other organizations to engage meaningfully:

“This is what true corporate social responsibility should look like—direct engagement and partnership with credible nonprofits. We are proud to be part of this.”

From Our Founder

Nicholas Cofie, President of MyHelp-YourHelp Foundation, closed the event with a stirring call to action:

“We have the structure, the people, and the passion. What we need are more hands and hearts to multiply this impact. Let’s not stop here.”

Thank You

To our donors, sponsors, volunteers, and partners, your commitment made this possible.
Because of you, Easter 2025 wasn’t just a celebration; it became a true experience of inclusion, healing, and hope.
