Free Health Screening at Ashaiman-Zenu

MyHelp-YourHelp Foundation, organised a free health screening exercise for the people of Ashiaman and its environs in the Greater Accra Region as part of efforts to meet the United Nation’s SDGs with focus on education , health and social services.

The health screening exercise, which has become part of the Foundation’s annual events, saw more than 700 people, including children being screened for various diseases with malaria, hypertension, diabetes, and HIV/AIDS inclusive. Those whose conditions needed further clinical diagnoses and treatment were then referred to the Hospitals.

The beneficiaries were educated on causes and prevention of heart diseases, stroke, alcoholism and drug abuse, among others.

The activity was made possible by a team of medical practitioners from all the major health facilities in the Greater Accra Region, such as Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Cocoa Clinic, Greater Accra Regional Hospital, Tema General Hospital, Ashaiman Polyclinic, and 37 Military Hospital. These health workers, led by Dr Riches Esiape, the Head of the Medical Team, are all members of the Foundation.

The Foundation also teamed up with the National Health Insurance Scheme to register residents without a health insurance onto the Scheme, while those with expired membership had them renewed.

Speaking with the media after the exercise, Dr. Esiape said the gesture has helped to inform the people about their health status.
